After Hours & Emergencies
Emergencies
If your child has a life threatening emergency, please call 911. If your child needs to see a physician after our regular business hours, please take him/her to the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) at Scottish Rite Emergency Department or a CHOA urgent care center (Visit www.choa.org for locations and wait times).
After Hours
We ask that the after hours call service be reserved for urgent situations only. If you have an urgent question or concern, call (770) 664-0088. Please do not send a message via the patient portal for urgent questions or concerns during or after regular business hours.
After hours calls will be directed to our answering service and Children's Health Care of Atlanta's nurse advice line. You will speak with an experienced nurse who is trained to handle most issues. If necessary, your question or concern can be escalated to our on-call provider who will return your call. If you are waiting for a call back from our provider and you don't hear back within a reasonable amount of time, please call again.
When calling, please have the following information ready:
- patient's name
- patient's date of birth
- nature of the issue
- your name and call-back phone number
- please unblock private numbers
Physician On Call
For your convenience, a physician is on call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. After hours, our physician is available to give advice for urgent/emergency calls. However, our doctors do not prescribe medication or give refills over the phone.
